Our aim is to offer a quality service tailored to your individual requirements. A multi-disciplinary approach is used to ensure all aspects of your care, and to plan for your successful discharge. Care is person-centred and delivered in a way respectful of your culture, gender and religious beliefs.
Support is provided for you and your family to assist you to make informed choices about your treatment options. The multi-disciplinary team will encourage your participation throughout your stay in hospital and recognises the positive contribution your family or carer can make, and - with your consent - will encourage their participation.
Bushey Fields Hospital has two older adult wards and three acute inpatient wards offering specialist assessment, care and treatment to people who are experiencing mental health difficulties
Throughout your admission a series of assessments will take place which look in detail at your needs. These include:
- An assessment of your mental state- this involves staff talking with you and making observations
- An assessment of your social situation -this looks at your housing, employment, leisure and family welfare issues
- A risk assessment - this helps to maintain your safety
- A physical healthcare assessment- this involves being examined by a doctor and having some tests.
Throughout your stay, you will be under the care of a multi-disciplinary team who will hold a weekly ward review where your care and treatment will be discussed with you and your relatives, with your permission.
Your multi-disciplinary team may consist of some or all of the following:
- Doctor
- Nurse
- Occupational Therapist
- Psychologist
- Social Worker
- Community Mental Health Nurse
The multi-disciplinary team will discuss with you the care to be provided to aid your recovery. This will involve structured activities during the day, which you are asked to attend as part of your care plan, a copy of which will be offered to you.
You will also have the opportunity to discuss your progress and update your care plan with your named nurse. Your named nurse will offer you meetings at least twice a week
The Older Persons wards are accessed via GP, Community Mental Health Team (CMHT) or a General Hospital referral to a consultant.
The acute inpatient wards are accessed via the Mental Health Crisis Resolution and Home Treatment Service.
