The Recovery College for the Black Country is excited to announce a new open day to welcome prospective students to their life-changing courses, to coincide with World Mental Health Day.
The Recovery College provides an educational learning environment for people who have an interest in, or personal difficulties with, mental health. Courses at the college celebrate people’s successes and build on existing skills and strategies rather than highlighting problems or failures. The Recovery College works on the belief that learning together makes students stronger and supports their recovery.
The team will be holding their next open day in Dudley on Thursday 10 October, which takes place at the team’s Dudley base at DY1 Community Centre, Stafford Street, Dudley, DY1 1SA, from 10am to 12pm.
During the open day, attendees will have the opportunity to attend a short information session about the Recovery College and its offerings, participate in a Q&A session to address any questions or concerns; join a taster session led by members of the college’s facilitator team and enjoy refreshments and network with other attendees.
The team will also be celebrating World Mental Health Day with a range of resources and helpful pointers.
Kerry Wilkes, Principal of the Recovery College in the Black Country, said: "We look forward to welcoming everyone and showcasing how our educational approach can make a positive impact on mental health and well-being.
“Our goal is to highlight the strengths and capabilities of each individual and foster a supportive community of learners."
Following the Recovery College’s expansion from Quayside House in Oldbury into new physical bases in Dudley, Walsall and Wolverhampton in September 2023, these events provide an opportunity for the community to learn more about programs at the Recovery College and how the college supports mental health through education and collaborative learning.
