An assistant psychologist at Black Country Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is in the running for an impressive six awards in recognition of her commitment and talent in her profession.
Fauzia Khan has been shortlisted for five individual award categories at the prestigious InsideOut Awards 2024, as well as an individual award at the Local Hero Awards 2024.
For the InsideOut Awards, Fauzia has been shortlisted for Future Leader Award, UK Campaigner of The Year, Behind the Scenes Champion, Wellbeing/Mental Health Champion of the Year, and the Lifetime Commitment to Wellbeing Award. Meanwhile, at the Local Hero Awards, she has been shortlisted for the NHS Hero of the Year Award.
Fauzia is being recognised for her continued commitment to promoting wellbeing, as well as the promotion of psychology at a wider national stage. Fauzia was recently involved in co-developing the ‘Unlock your Strengths Positive Psychology workshops’ within the Trust’s Older Adult’s Division, with Dr Kam Kahlwan, Principal Clinical Psychologist, which was well received by multidisciplinary staff groups.
Fauzia is also passionate about making the psychology discipline more inclusive for other aspiring psychologists from minoritised backgrounds, by sharing her own experiences of being from an underrepresented background and pursuing a career in psychology through her writing endeavours, and via her ‘Fauzia Khan Interviews…’ series.
Reacting to her nominations, Fauzia said: “I am beyond excited to be shortlisted for both the InsideOut Awards and the Local Hero Awards. To be recognised in so many varying categories and amongst such inspiring individuals is truly an honour. I would like to thank everyone, past and present, who has been a part of my journey for their continued support; thank you all.”
